Kif Scheuer
Program Manager
Kif Scheuer holds a PhD in environmental psychology and an MSc in architectural technologies, both from the University of Michigan. His undergraduate degree is in architecture from Columbia University. Kif brings a wide range of sustainability and green building experience to SEI. For his dissertation he examined psychological factors in the adoption of residential green building practices. For his master's thesis, Kif used life-cycle analysis methods to study sections of the LEED 2.0 green building program. He has also researched co-housing, neighborhood walkability, and community gardening. Before graduate school, Kif was lead designer and a partner in Resource Revival, a recycled product design firm based in Portland, Oregon.
At SEI, Kif's primary focus is on sustainability initiatives in the municipal sector. Kif is currently heading up the BAAQMD Regionalizing Best Practices in General Planning project, including the development of SEI's innovative climate policy toolkit, working on a collaborative policy development project with several Contra Costa County communities, supporting stimulus program activity with the San Joaquin Valley Clean Energy Organization, managing the internship phase of the Sustainable Practices Certificate program for Dominican University of California, and managing a database of stimulus funding questions for the Department of Energy.
In the recent past, he conducted outreach to the solar industry for Skyline's Solar Installer Training Program, and led SEI's green demonstration project with the University of Redlands, researched green leases for the California Sustainability Alliance, been a project coordinator with the Alliance to Save Energy's Green Campus Program. Kif has also presented on SEI's work at a variety of regional and national conferences including GreenBuild (2007), West Coast Green (2007), and ACEEE Summer Study (2008).
