<p class="MsoNormal"><span>The internships, which pay participants $10 an hour, are funded through the Marin County’s Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) Emergency Contingency Funds, administered by the County Department of Health and Human Services and the Workforce Investment Board.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span>In addition to allowing area companies to advance their sustainability goals by supplying additional labor at no cost to the organization, the program provides participants with valuable professional development skills and experience in the green industry. </span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal">The green industry encompasses a broad spectrum of employment opportunities and the range of SEI’s internship placements reflect the large variety of green jobs available. Internship placements include, but are not limited to: Mike’s Bikes, Plath Company, The Latino Council of Marin, Teens Turning Green, the Marin Bicycle Coalition, the Marin Carbon Project, Sustainable Fairfax, the Marin Builders Association, Marin Organic, Strategic Energy Innovations, Marinwood Community Farmer’s Market and Cow Track Ranch.</p>
