Lauren Casterson, Sustainable Communities Associate

Lauren Casterson, Sustainable Communities Associate

Lauren Casterson graduated from the University of San Francisco in 2011 with degrees in Environmental Studies and International Studies with honors. 

As a student, she acted as the University’s Student Sustainability Coordinator, developing and implementing educational conservation programming and competitions in university residences, green office programs in departments, Green Teams for the University and sub colleges and facilitated events such as Earth day and Recyclemania for USF and the surrounding community. During her senior year she worked closely with the Booker T Washington Community Center incorporating the afterschool program in the community garden through coordinating volunteer work days and teaching a gardening/nutrition class to low-income youth.

Lauren joins SEI as part of the Climate Corps Bay Area program. She brings a background in community outreach, environmental education, and waste prevention to SEI’s education department, where she serves as the Eco-Educator and Sustainable Communities Associate.

At SEI, Lauren supports local and statewide educational initiatives, including collaborative school-based Energy and Green Teams, the Cool the Earth program, and SEI’s Protect Your Climate curriculum.
