The program has an exploratory science and clean energy theme, which includes hands-on, highly interactive, projects-based instruction; age-appropriate experiments and design/build projects; training in the use of energy analysis equipment and energy auditing; and strengthening environmental literacy and values among students. The program can be delivered in varied formats, ranging from one-hour segments to full day activities.
The curriculum uses energy as the context for math, science, and language arts instruction. Each week students are engaged in various energy and sustainability-focused activities, including home and building energy auditing techniques, energy conservation techniques, building and experimenting with solar ovens, making paper from junk mail, reusing materials for art projects, designing their own reusable bag and more!
Since 2006, summer camps have been offered in Marin and Humboldt counties.
