On behalf of the State-sponsored California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley, SEI, with guidance from a diverse 15-member Steering Committee, recommended the design and operation of a regional clean energy organization to serve the 8-county region of the San Joaquin Valley. The San Joaquin Valley Clean Energy Organization (SJVCEO) serves as an independent voice and advocate for clean energy and sustainable development, seeking to increase capacity and use of clean energy to help the Valley address its air quality, economic, and growth challenges. It also acts as a hub for communication and leveraging resources among clean energy stakeholders, and their counterparts in the eight-county region.
While the SJVCEO was being established, with financial assistance from the California Partnership for the San Joaquin Valley, SEI acted as the interim support team for the SJVCEO to get Valley municipalities involved in green and clean start-up activities in the Valley. To date, SEI project support of the SJVCEO has focused in two primary focus areas: local governments and the agriculture sector. In partnership with SJVCEO, SEI has worked directly within a number of SJ Valley municipalities (e.g.: Cities of Fresno, Visalia, Arvin and Delano) to help “green” their communities.
