• Strategy Development

Integrating sustainability into any community, organization or institution can be a daunting prospect.  Defining an effective sustainability strategy, however, increasingly is becoming a necessary element.  We know from experience that conducting the up-front research and benchmarking can be a critical step in developing a thoughtful plan for addressing challenges associated with climate change and other environmental issues. Our team has successfully collaborated with a variety of stakeholders, constituents and decision-makers to develop and vet customized sustainability strategies.

• Climate and Sustainability Planning

SEI staff has led the effort with local governments to conduct greenhouse gas inventories and to support their development of Climate Action Plans.  SEI's staff is familiar with the relevant legislation, inventory protocols and tools required to effectively plan, execute and deliver a high-quality greenhouse gas inventory, Climate Action Plan or long-term sustainability plan.

• Program/Project Management

SEI acts as a consultant and manager for a number of ongoing federal, state and locally funded programs.  SEI staff members provide planning, marketing, oversight and evaluation services to ensure that these initiatives are successfully implemented; identifying and piloting program adjustments and appropriate mid-course improvements.  SEI staff are familiar working across a variety of organizations – utilities, schools, municipalities, nonprofits and multifamily housing providers - to support the implementation of greening projects and campaigns.  From deploying commercial sector energy upgrades, to supervising student interns, to implementing climate change curriculum in elementary schools, SEI's highly experienced staff provide exceptional program and project management services across a diverse range of new and ongoing efforts.

• Policy Development

Our staff takes great pains to stay current on relevant climate and energy policies, mandates and best practices, and we've used this knowledge to assist stakeholders in communities throughout and beyond California develop timely, cost-effective sustainability policy.  Drawing on our experience with the best energy and sustainability practices from local governments, utilities and academia, our staff can help identify the best policies and to pursue location-specific adoption and implementation strategies.
