Associate Project Coordinator - Sustainability Education - San Rafael, CA
OVERVIEW
SEI is seeking an Associate Project Coordinator to support our sustainability-focused K-12 education programs. This is a full-time position, with a flexible schedule of 3 days per week work from home and the remaining days in our main office in San Rafael, CA.
IMPACT
In this position, you will play an integral role across our organization, supervising and mentoring students and professionals on climate topics, helping to create unique curriculum around sustainability, and building relationships within the sustainability education space. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Receive a competitive starting salary of $30 per hour plus company-paid health insurance, sick time, vacation time, 14 paid holidays per year, in-house dental/vision/chiropractic plan, participation in a 403(b) Retirement Plan (with matching after one year), a hybrid schedule with 3 days per week work from home, and additional scheduling accommodations available.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise, teach, or mentor students and/or professionals working on climate protection projects through training, curriculum development, and instruction in schools.
- Program support includes teacher recruiting, supervision and oversight, teacher training and professional development, maintaining the administrative structures, and curriculum development.
- Support with fundraising activities, including partnership development, proposals, and grant writing.
- Your work will include periodic travel and field support and may require flexibility for occasional evening and weekend work.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience in fields related to this position.
- Two or more years experience in education, working with students of all levels, bonus for a focus or specialty in sustainability, climate change, or other green energy topics.
- Fluency in reading, writing, and conversational Spanish
- Access to reliable transportation for work-related commitments.
- Genuine commitment to anti-racism and willingness to work in racial equity frameworks and experience in addressing racism and racial equity with team members and programmatically.
- Broad and deep understanding of sustainability, climate change, energy conservation, energy efficiency, renewable energy, green infrastructure, and building science concepts and topics, evidenced by experience teaching these subjects, working in the field, and/or pursuit of additional coursework, seminars, and professional certifications
- Knowledge, experience, and skill in the education sector, with traditional or non-traditional teaching and curriculum design experience
- Demonstrated mastery in project management & work organization
- Track record of proactively expanding your role, responsibilities & associated outcomes
- Basic understanding of the inner workings of public agencies, nonprofits, businesses & educational institutions
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the ability to self-manage and reliably meet multiple, concurrent deadlines
- Ability to work under direct supervision, collaboratively in teams, or independently
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience managing, mentoring, and supervising others
- Ability to give direction in a positive, constructive, and succinct manner
