Community-University Sustainability Partnerships (CUSP)

Our institutions of higher education represent significant intellectual and social capital for nearby communities, while at the same time, faculty are seeking opportunities to provide students with relevant and place-based sustainability challenges to address.  Through the CUSP approach, SEI staff seeks to bring campuses and municipal partners together.

Southwest Solar Transformation Initiative

We’ve partnered with Optony to lead the Southwest Solar Transformation Initiative (SSTI) with a regional team of public and private entities committed to advancing solar power adoption across participating municipalities in the Southwest. As part of this effort, the SEI team will direct university students as they research solar market issues for the region, initially working with a team from University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV). In addition, SEI staff will engage regional councils of governments and their municipal members in the San Joaquin Valley of California, and in parts of Colorado, Nevada and Utah.
